The Korea Money and Finance Association (KMFA) was established on June 9, 1989, with the goal of promoting Korea’s financial and industrial development. Since holding our first general meeting and regular symposium, we have been committed to advancing both theoretical research and practical understanding in currency, finance, securities, and the management of financial institutions.
Today, KMFA is proud to bring together a vibrant community of around 700 scholars specializing in economics and business management, along with approximately 100 financial institutions and research organizations. Together, we are working to foster innovation and growth in Korea’s financial sector.
At KMFA, we are actively engaged in a variety of academic and policy initiatives to support research and knowledge exchange. Each year, we host:
We publish the Journal of Money and Finance (JMF), our officially registered quarterly academic journal, which showcases high-quality research in the fields of money and finance. In addition, we release proceedings from our policy symposiums and regularly share updates through our KMFA newsletters.
To encourage excellence in research, we present awards for outstanding academic papers, recognizing contributions that advance understanding and practice in the financial sector
KMFA supports three dedicated research groups, each fostering specialized studies and collaborative projects:\
Through these groups, we organize seminars and promote academic exchange, strengthening our role as a leading association in Korea’s financial research community.
We are headquartered on the 7th floor of the Korea Institute of Finance (KIF) Building in Seoul. Our association is guided by a board of directors and supported by dedicated office administrators who manage our daily operations
